Brinkburn Stables, Brinkburn, Northumberland
The stable block for the Brinkburn Priory had major structural issues and was rapidly falling into decline. Sited on the bank of the River Coquet, this Grade II Listed coach house and stables have been transformed into a family home for the children and grandchildren.
This scheme has dynamic internal spaces which allow the living areas to be viewed from more private
rooms. An expression of the existing materiality unifies the project throughout.
The building has a whole-house heat recovery ventilation system, generous insulation and quality timber construction, while still respecting the Grade-II listing.
